Runners of all ages and abilities can pledge to take part in the day via GlobalRunningDay.org - May 8, 2017—Pledging for Global Running Day and the second annual Million Kid Run on June 7 is now open on GlobalRunningDay.org. Runners of all ages and abilities can pledge to run on June 7 and add their name to the list of people from all over the world who are coming together to celebrate the sport on Global Running Day.



With 17.2 million race finishers in the US alone in 2015*, there is an audience and an appetite for distance running. But the industry is ripe for disruption—traditional race participation is down for the first time in 20 years*; races and sponsors are frustrated with inadequate reach and frequency; and for runners, it’s difficult to find races and expensive to participate—until now.

20,000 runners set to race the Big Apple

Some 20,000 runners are set to contest the United Airlines NYC Half next March while 1000 students will be able to savour the atmosphere by taking part in the NYRR Times Square Kids’ Run - The 2016 United Airlines NYC Half set for 20 March will feature 20,000 runners in the 13.1-mile race and 1,000 students in the second annual NYRR Times Square Kids’ Run at the United Airlines NYC Half. The runner field was selected in an entry drawing held on 10 December, while the professional field which could include reigning champions Leonard Korir and Molly Huddle will be announced in early 2016.
