San Antonians Jose Munoz, Elizabeth Eder become city’s first marathon champions; Country singer Jo Dee Messina runs 13.1-mile event before headlining post-race concert - SAN ANTONIO – (Nov. 11, 2012) – The Rock ‘n’ Roll San Antonio Marathon & Half Marathon benefiting Susan G. Komen celebrated its 5th birthday in style on Sunday, Nov. 11 when more than 25,000 entrants from all 50 states and 22 countries took to the city’s downtown streets.

PHILADELPHIA (November 6, 2012)  – Mayor Michael A. Nutter announced that the sold-out Philadelphia Marathon will be opened for an additional 3,000 race participants who were registered, but unable to compete, in the cancelled 2012 New York City Marathon.

Athletes who had registered for New York Marathon can receive 20 percent discount on registration. - SEATTLE – In a show of support for the running community, the Amica Insurance Seattle Marathon is offering discounts to runners who had registered for the 2012 New York City Marathon, which has been canceled in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.

Stephen Pifer, Venera Sarmosova victorious in half marathon, Mescal runs for ACS, first charity runner to win a Rock ‘n’ Roll race -  Savannah, GA - November 3, 2012 – The Hostess City of the South rolled out a welcoming combination of ideal weather and thousands of enthusiastic spectators as more than 17,000 entrants took to the streets for the 2nd annual Rock ‘n’ Roll Savannah Marathon & ½ Marathon benefiting the American Cancer Society. The race started in downtown Savannah and ended in Forsyth Park.

After Days of Pressure, Marathon Is Off

After days of intensifying pressure from runners, politicians and the general public to call off the New York City Marathon in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, city officials and the event’s organizers decided Friday afternoon to cancel the race.
