Marathons (347)

Frankfurt, Germany - As expected, Patrick Makau of Kenya won the 31st BMW Frankfurt Marathon on a cool bright morning in German’s financial centre. But the manner of his victory at this IAAF Gold Label Road Race, in 2:06:08, was far from expected.

The BMW Frankfurt Marathon can be watched worldwide on the internet. The race starts at 10 am (Central European time / be aware that clocks go back one hour in the night before the race!) and is broadcast live by the regional German TV station (Hessischer Rundfunk). You will find a link at:

All eyes on Makau in Frankfurt - PREVIEW

Written by

Frankfurt, Germany - Take one World record holder, disgruntled that he was not selected for the Olympic Games, and put him on a Marathon course where a colleague (who did go to the Games) clocked just four seconds slower than his World record last year. Then add the vital ingredients of favourable weather and equitable pace-making, and the likely outcome is another very fast time for Patrick Makau in Sunday’s BMW Frankfurt Marathon.
