New York, USA - A superlative set of some of the world’s best marathoners will battle for the 2011-2012 World Marathon Majors (WMM) titles at the 2012 ING New York City Marathon on 4 November, an IAAF Gold Label Road Race.

$10,000 offered for Minnesota Marathon victory double - ST. PAUL, Minn. - (September 11, 2012) - A prize purse of $113,000 is on offer for professional athletes competing in the 31st running of the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon on Sunday, October 7, but for Ethiopia's Berhanu Girma and Kenya's Everlyne Lagat, an additional $10,000 is available for each, if they can match their victories at June's Grandma's Marathon in Duluth with wins at the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon.

Smyth, Grabow, Metivier Baille highlight promising U.S. contingent at 35th edition - CHICAGO - (September 12, 2012) - The Bank of America Chicago Marathon has announced its full professional athlete field for the event's 35th running on Sunday, October 7. Ethiopia's Tsegaye Kebede tops a stacked roster of athletes hungry for a breakthrough performance on Chicago's international stage, while the women's field welcomes, among others, Werknesh Kidane (below, PhotoRun) of Ethiopia, coming off a fourth-place finish in the 10,000 meter race at the London Olympics. These athletes join previously announced 2012 Boston Marathon champion and Chicago runner-up Wesley Korir of Kenya, three-time U.S. Olympian Dathan Ritzenhein and three-time defending champion Liliya Shobukhova of Russia.

Leading the elite field at the 39th edition of the BMW BERLIN MARATHON on September 30th is Geoffrey Mutai (31) from Kenya, the man who ran the fastest marathon ever winning the Boston Marathon last year clocking 2:03:02 hrs. The time however cannot be recognized as a world record since the Boston course does not meet the requirements for records (the maximum incline is one metre per kilometre, start and finish should not be further apart than 50 % of the total race distance). The incline on Boston’s point to point course is 139 metres. The official world record stands at 2:03:38 by Patrick Makau (Kenya). He ran that at the BMW BERLIN MARATHON last year.

2012 Olympic Trials champions Julie Culley & Amy Hastings and Olympian Janet Bawcom to compete on November 4 - -NEW YORK - (September 6, 2012) - A strong field of 2012 U.S. Olympians are set to compete in the 2012 ING New York City Marathon. Olympic Trials champions Julie Culley (5000 meters) and Amy Hastings (10,000 meters) are among the competitors, as is 10,000m Olympic team member Janet Bawcom, it was announced by New York Road Runners President and CEO Mary Wittenberg.
